Product Description:

Ranbar Blue SW5060 is a thermochromic temperature-activated pigment powder that undergoes reversible color changes with temperature fluctuations. At low temperatures, SW5060 exhibits a sapphire blue color, gradually lightening to transparency as the temperature increases. This pigment is designed for coloring products that demand color changes in high and low-temperature environments. It finds wide applications in various plastics, coatings, and printing inks. Additionally, it can be used in a series of products sensitive to body temperature and applied for heat-reducing patches and various anti-counterfeiting designs.

Thermochromic temperature activated pigment powder undergoes color changes with variations in temperature. When exposed to heat, the internal structure of the material undergoes alterations, leading to a change in color. Upon cooling, the internal substance of the color-changing pigment reverts to its original structure, restoring the initial color. This color-changing phenomenon is repetitively reversible.

Product Precautions:

Thermochromic temperature activated pigment powder itself is an unstable system, so its resistance to light, heat, aging, and other properties are far inferior to ordinary pigments. It’s crucial to be mindful of these factors for optimal use.

  • Light Resistance:
Thermochromic temperature activated pigment powder has limited resistance to sunlight. When exposed to strong sunlight, its color may fade quickly, leading to loss of effectiveness. Therefore, it is recommended for indoor use to avoid prolonged exposure to intense sunlight and ultraviolet rays, thereby extending its lifespan.
  • Heat Resistance:
Thermochromic temperature activated pigment powder can withstand high temperatures of up to 230°C for a short duration (around 10 minutes), making it suitable for injection molding and high-temperature curing. Additionally, when the temperature exceeds 80°C, the organic components constituting the color-changing system will begin to degrade. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid prolonged operation of the color-changing pigment at temperatures higher than 75°C.
  • Solvent Resistance:
Do not use highly polar solvents, such as methanol or ethanol, to avoid affecting the internal environment of the coating and thus impacting its color-changing performance.
